Hospice of the Valley provides outpatient and residential hospice care throughout the Phoenix metro area. The client hired Lizard Rock Designs to examine ways to centralize its charting, counseling and record keeping functions. The feasibility study led to the design of a new two-story office structure with four levels of subterranean parking on the site adjacent to their existing administrative building. The interior space is organized around a series of open plan “neighborhoods” that correspond to the client’s approach of working in teams. This concept takes advantage of natural light and views from both sides of the building. The ceiling is designed using variable materials and lighting to create definition in an otherwise open space. Conference and training rooms are enclosed in glass storefronts to maintain the open concept. A natural paint palette and sustainable materials, such as cork and recycled carpet, are used throughout the building.
