LRD collaborated with a team of medical planners and engineers to develop a long term master plan for expansion at the Bob Stump VA Medical Center in Prescott, AZ. The project began with an extensive needs assessment of over 50 existing buildings on site, and included evaluation of infrastructure, parking, and land issues. Once service lines and volumes had been evaluated and projections made for 5 and 10 years, LRD collaborated with the design team and client to develop scenarios for adding to the existing campus. The overriding goal throughout was to maintain the open wooded nature of the site, and preserve existing historic structures which ring the main hospital building. The selected option uses a new outpatient clinic & pharmacy building to knit together the existing nursing home, urgent care facility, and main hospital. A new helipad and emergency room entrance are incorporated into the new building.
